When food manufactures replace paper systems on the shop floor, VisionTouch is the software that the operators see. It runs from a web browser on your intranet, and is used to capture every bit of data in the production environment necessary to ensure adherence to specification, traceability, quality control (QC), as well as food safety and health & safety compliance, using combinations of fixed touchscreen Windows terminals at lineside, and handheld tablets.
Goods-in jobs and production works orders can be driven directly via links to Purchase Order data from the existing ERP system, and interfaces with Planning, and all routine QA and internal audit technical checks can be automatically scheduled. All jobs and tasks are presented to the operator in order, and filtered according to the line or location, and the operator’s skill set.
Production ‘Washing Line’ recipe images and instructions are automatically displayed when any given production order is accessed, and relevant documents can be attached and opened from inside any related task.
On all test results photographs may be saved as part of the result, along with added notes, and operators are shown what to do when results fail or fall outside acceptable tolerances. Where necessary, comments must be entered to provide the essential background information required for corrective actions to be completed, and automatic email escalation ensures management is kept informed. Certain results can also force a retest or place the job on hold.
Tests that can be accomodated:
- Pass or Fail
- Freeform text or select an answer from a look-up list
- Numeric tests with up to 5 tolerance levels
- Recipe inputs with life, valid batches and quantities automatically policed. Barcode reading can ensure the right batch is always used, and real-time communication with scales ensure accurate quantities of ingredients are consumed. Allowable substitute ingredients may also be selected. Links on input ingredient checks can open the relevant material specification in the VisionSpecs Portal (providing it is implemented)
- Recipe outputs for production batches (and by-products), where new batch numbers are generated with the correct life, and barcode labels printed as required. Links to the product spec may also be added
- OEE data
- Multiple results, average calculations, and the application of mathematic formulae

VisionTouch can also handle:
Using part batches and multiple batches on input
Adding to output batches previously produced
Transferring jobs across production lines
Transforming batches
Adding concessions, adjusting batch quantities and wasting batches with reason codes
Stock taking
Recording any necessary corrective actions
Reviewing results and adhoc retesting
